The Observability Intern supports the observability team in building, maintaining, and improving monitoring and visibility solutions for production systems.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to real-world observability platforms, helping interns understand how metrics, logs, traces, and alerts are used to maintain system reliability and operational insight. The scope of responsibility increases progressively based on the intern’s level and experience.
- Assist in maintaining and updating observability dashboards
- Validate metrics and logs for accuracy and completeness
- Support alert reviews and basic alert hygiene tasks
- Help maintain documentation and runbooks
- Assist with service instrumentation tasks
- Review alert data and support basic analysis
- Help document observability standards and best practices
- Support monitoring configuration updates
- Learn how observability data is collected, processed, and stored
- Understand how metrics, logs, and traces are used for operational insights
- Collaborate with engineers on observability improvements
- Grafana
- Prometheus
- Log platforms
- OpenTelemetry
- Cloud monitoring services (AWS / GCP / Azure)
- Basic scripting (Python or Bash)
- Understanding of observability fundamentals and data lifecycles
- Hands-on experience with production monitoring systems
