Head of Engineering Transformation (Remote)

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to help scale and reorganize our software engineering organization as the company continues to grow.

Our platform includes domain registration, hosting, email services, SSL certificates, domain auctions, and related products supported by multiple engineering teams. Over time, ownership and operational responsibilities have become fragmented across the organization, creating scaling challenges, knowledge silos, and delivery inefficiencies.

This role will help redesign engineering structure, improve ownership models, introduce scalable processes, and align teams around products and domains while maintaining ongoing delivery and operational stability.


Responsibilities

Organizational Transformation

  • Reorganize engineering teams around product and domain ownership
  • Define clear ownership boundaries across products and services
  • Improve team accountability, autonomy, and long-term scalability
  • Reduce dependency on tribal knowledge and key individuals
  • Help evolve engineering structure without disrupting ongoing delivery


Engineering Operations

  • Improve planning, execution, and cross-team coordination
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and organizational inefficiencies
  • Introduce scalable engineering processes and delivery practices
  • Balance feature delivery, operational support, and technical modernization
  • Improve visibility into priorities, risks, timelines, and execution status


Leadership & Executive Communication

  • Work closely with engineering managers, technical leads, product owners, and executive leadership
  • Coordinate organizational and process changes across multiple teams
  • Provide regular visibility to executives on engineering initiatives, delivery progress, risks, and organizational transformation efforts
  • Translate executive priorities and strategic direction into actionable plans for engineering teams
  • Ensure alignment between business goals, engineering execution, and operational priorities


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading or scaling software engineering organizations
  • Experience reorganizing engineering teams during periods of growth
  • Strong understanding of product-oriented or domain-oriented team structures
  • Experience improving engineering processes, ownership, and operational scalability
  • Strong technical literacy and understanding of modern software development practices
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving and high-pressure environments


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with SaaS, hosting, infrastructure, or platform-based businesses
  • Understanding of Conway’s Law, platform engineering, and scalable team topology patterns
  • Experience balancing operational support, feature delivery, and technical modernization
  • Experience working with distributed or remote engineering teams


Technical Environment

Our engineering teams primarily use:

  • Backend: PHP (Yii2, Symfony)
  • Frontend: Vue 3

Deep expertise in these technologies is not required, but strong technical understanding is expected.
