How to publish an event on several sites
Create an event once on DevKG and select other sites in the network. The system places copies there. This is called crossposting: you do not need to copy the description manually.
The event you created is the original. Edit it on DevKG so changes can reach its active copies.
1. Choose sites before publishing
- Create an event or open a draft. See How to create an event.
- Go to step four, Review and publish.
- Find Also publish on and select the sites you want. Each has a price beside it.
- Check any preselected sites and untick those you do not need.
The examples below illustrate the steps and site picker. Make your selection in the event form, not in this article.
- 1. What, where and when
- 2. Describe the event
- 3. Registration and contacts
- 4. Check and publish
The "Also publish on" block: each site has a checkbox and a price. A ticked site shows a second checkbox, a post in its channel. A site that does not fit is grey, with the reason below it. On the right is the order summary: the publication, each placement, the total and the "Pay and publish" button.
If the block is absent, the form currently offers no other sites. This is not necessarily an error. If a site is greyed out, read the reason beside it.
An event that already has programme entries may be unable to use sites without speaker-programme support. The restriction concerns added talks and breaks, not just the setting to accept applications.
2. Check channel posts and the total
If a channel-post service is offered, select it in the Order summary. It also includes posts in the channels of selected partner sites that sell this service. Each site shows the post's state and price; there is no separate control for each partner channel.
To remove channel posts, switch off the service in the summary. Publication on the selected sites remains selected.
Check the Total: publication on DevKG, selected sites and extra services. One order does not mean every placement is free. Use the prices shown in the form.
- If payment is due, choose Pay and publish.
- If no payment is due, choose Publish.
See How to pay for publication. Copy creation starts after the original is published. If it is under review, wait for the result first. Copies may appear at different times.
3. Check where the event appeared
Open My events → the original event's menu → Where published. This entry appears for events with placements on other sites.
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Published | Follow the link and check the copy |
| In progress | Wait: copy creation is not finished |
| Not placed | Read the reason, resolve it if possible, then select “Place again” |
| No longer showing | The copy was created but is no longer published, for example because it was archived |
| Removed | The placement was taken down. This copy cannot be restored |
Place again retries a failed placement on the same site without charging for that placement twice. It does not add a new site or restore a removed copy. If an account or company problem cannot be resolved, contact support.
How registration and the programme work
| Event setting | What happens on a copy |
|---|---|
| Registration on the site | The button leads to the original on DevKG. Registrations belong to the original event |
| Registration on another site | The button follows your external link. That service holds the registrations |
| No registration | There is no registered guest list |
| Registration closed | Once the copy updates, new visitors cannot register through it either |
Copies do not display the guest count.
For registration through the site, all guests appear in one guest list at the original.
Speaker applications from a copy lead to the original event and one speaker board. The programme is shared with sites that support it.
Edit the event or remove a copy
Change the text, date, location and contacts at the original on DevKG. Published changes reach active copies. If edits require review, wait for it to finish. Taking down or deleting the original also affects copies. Events are archived according to their dates; this does not promise that every copy disappears at the same second.
To remove the event from just one site:
- Open Where published.
- Select Remove from this site for the relevant site.
- Read the warning and confirm.
The original and other copies remain.
If you need another site after publication
The current interface cannot add it to this event. Create a copy in the menu creates a new, separate event, not another placement of the existing one. It has its own placements and registration; do not expect existing guests or payments to transfer.
If you need a new event, check its draft's company, date, location and site selection, then the total cost. To extend an existing event's reach without a second announcement, ask support what options are available.
If a status stays unchanged or retries fail, send support the original event link, target site and error text. For jobs, use the separate guide: Publish a job on other sites.
