How to spend points and earn rewards for inviting friends

Points are DevKG bonuses for eligible paid services. The balance belongs to this site: a shared network account does not make points shared across all sites.

Points do not expire with time and cannot be withdrawn as cash. Bonuses earned from a refunded purchase may be reversed; that is not expiry.

Find your balance

Sign in and open Points. The number beside the coin in the menu also links there when displayed.

The page contains your balance and its spending value, earning rules, invitations if enabled, and Points history.

At the top is your balance: 1,250 points. Below is the How points work card: 5% of a purchase comes back as points, points can cover up to 50% of a bill, points do not expire and cannot be cashed out. At the bottom is the invite block: what you and your friend get, your link, the Copy link and Share link buttons, and a line about who has already signed up.

This is what the Points page looks like

This is an example. Read your actual point conversion, rewards and conditions on the site. One point does not necessarily equal one unit of currency.

Spend points

  1. Reach checkout for a paid publication or service.
  2. In Order summary, enable Spend points if available.
  3. Check the points used and the remaining money due.
  4. Complete the order and pay any remaining amount using an offered method.

The site calculates spending from your balance and the order amount. Points may cover the whole bill. Do not assume a “50% maximum”: use the actual quote. A small points remainder may stay unused because spending value is rounded.

You can switch points off before placing the order. This changes the quote; it does not cancel a completed payment.

Ways to earn points

  • Purchases: when cashback applies. Check the reward in the order; earning depends on the portion paid with money. An order paid entirely with points earns no cashback.
  • Invitations: rewards for you or a new site member according to the programme. Both parties do not necessarily receive points.
  • Promotions: when you meet their conditions.

A points promo code. On the balance page, select I have a promo code, enter it and apply. Check the balance after success. Discount codes belong at checkout, not in balance top-ups. See Promo codes.

Invite a friend

The invitation block appears when the programme is enabled. It explains who receives what and which purchase qualifies for your reward.

  1. Open Points and select Copy link or Share link, depending on the browser.
  2. Send it to a friend who has not yet joined this site.
  3. They open it and join in the same browser. An existing network account can be used; a new account is unnecessary.
  4. They receive welcome points on joining if that reward is offered.
  5. You receive your reward after their first qualifying purchase, if the programme rewards inviters.

A qualifying purchase has a money-paid portion that reaches the stated threshold. Several small purchases are not added together. If the first purchase was too small, a later qualifying purchase can still earn the reward. Each friend earns you the reward once.

An order paid entirely with points does not qualify for the inviter reward. Below the link are aggregate invitation and reward figures, without friends' names.

If the conditions were met but no points arrived, contact support. Include the site, order number if available and approximate time.

Points history and refunds

The bottom of the page lists credits and debits with dates, reasons and amounts. Use the history's pages for older entries.

A full order refund returns spent points and reverses purchase cashback. A partial refund reverses the corresponding share of cashback; it does not automatically return spent points.

If you already spent the cashback, reversing it may make your balance negative. That does not mean points expired. Taking down a publication is not itself a refund. See Refunds.
